What Happened
Start with four familiar elements: water, fire, wind and earth. Combine them, discover new elements and use those discoveries to unlock more possibilities. That's the foundation of WordFusion, a Reddit game created by Beneficial-Ad2908. The developer uses two approaches to decide what happens when players combine elements. Known recipes have hand-authored answers. When a player discovers a combination without a predefined result, Gemini can invent a plausible name and emoji for the new element. The game also includes daily puzzles with designed solutions, giving players a clear objective instead of leaving everything to unrestricted generation.
Why It Matters
For game designers, completely open-ended AI responses can be entertaining but difficult to build dependable mechanics around. WordFusion takes a different approach. AI adds surprises while the developer retains control of the puzzles players must solve.
