Sora’s API closes September 24. Check what still depends on it.
OpenAI’s shutdown reaches the Videos API and Sora 2 models. Exporting old work and replacing a live integration need separate attention.

What Happened
OpenAI says the Sora API will close on September 24, 2026. Its developer guide names the Videos API, sora-2 and sora-2-pro among the affected services and models. The consumer web and app experiences already closed on April 26.
For app content, OpenAI directs users to the Sora sunset page to request an export. For API output, the developer guide says download links last no more than an hour and advises copying completed files into your own storage.
What to Check
Look for Sora calls in scripts, editing integrations and queued jobs. Keep a local copy of finished shots you still need, alongside the prompts and reference assets that explain how they were made.
Test a replacement on one representative shot before relying on it for a delivery. Compare timing, framing and audio in the actual edit; do not assume another model will respond to the same instructions in the same way.
Why It Matters
A small team can lose a working production step overnight even when its finished videos are safely saved. Finding that dependency now gives the team a chance to test the next shot before a client or collaborator is waiting for it.
