What Happened
System 3 CEO Mark Cale told GameSpot that the publisher misunderstood an art-production statement supplied by developer Antstream, according to Nintendo Wire’s report.
The statement described feeding 2D concepts into a model to estimate volume and lighting, then having artists repaint and finish the drafts. Cale said the wording had led System 3 to believe no generative AI was involved.
Why It Matters
A small publisher needs more than a promise that the final picture was finished by a person. Ask the supplier which tools made the draft, what they changed and what the artist redid. That makes the public explanation specific enough to check, instead of resting on two teams’ different meanings of “human-authored.”
